Book Club Meeting

with No Comments

Our next virtual book club meeting will be Monday October 5, 7:00 pm. We will read and discuss Anne Applebaum’s new book, Twilight of Democracy: The Seductive Lure of Authoritarianism (Doubleday, 2020). Reviews have been great:

Timothy Snyder (Yale) said ““Anne Applebaum is a leading historian of communism and a penetrating investigator of contemporary politics. Here she sets her sights on the big question, one with which she herself has been deeply engaged in both Europe and America: How did our democracy go wrong? This extraordinary document, written with urgency, intelligence, and understanding, is her answer.”

Ron Elving (NPR): “The book to buy for insight into what Trump’s rise and rule really mean—here and abroad—for democracy in our time.”

I’ll send out the Zoom link on the morning of October 5. As always, please DO NOT REPLY to this message since it will go to the entire membership. Email me directly at: charles.ziegler@louisville.edu
